This is worth considering. Looks good on the CV, feels rewarding, builds up confidence and experience especially for those who feel understandably daunted at having to start again after years of doing the same thing. A good way of getting used to a work routine again after a break. This site lets you search for relevant opportunities according to location, type, hours etc. As you can see, it can be flexible and you don't have to commit to a large number of hours, leaving you free to look for paid work and do other things. www.volunteerscotland.org.uk/default.aspx

P.S. Yes, I've already posted this link in a thread on the General board but that was before this board was created so I thought I'd post it again to start this one off! C x

I would recommend doing voluntary work, since April I have worked at my local CAB. It has enabled me to gain knowledge in numerous areas - consumer issues, employment law (contracts), benefits !!, debt management ( nearly half of our callers are heavily in debt) etc.
I t has made a good addition to my CV.

I concur with Smithers and Cal125, I have started voluntary work with Riding for the Disabled, which I will add to my CV, in addition to give sometime to help others it will not do your job hunting any harm. It is very rewarding also.
