Hi all I went to the above pub (near the St Andrew's Square end of Rose Street) at the beginning of April; the upstairs had been shut for a long time and had recently reopened. You can eat in the bar on the ground floor but the restaurant bit is up a spiral staircase, which is in itself a plus point for me but obviously something you need to know if there is anyone in your party with mobility problems. There is a very wide range of reasonably priced dishes; I had a starter, main course and drink at lunchtime for around £12. The quality of the food is excellent and as well as basic pub grub there are dishes which are that bit different; my starter was haggis fritters with mustard mayonnaise and they were done in the lightest, thinnest coating of batter. Portion sizes are generous but not too much. The staff are friendly and there is a pleasant atmosphere. It's not a huge place and tends to get very busy. For a group it may be worthwhile asking about booking. (0131 225 1809)

Would also recommend this place as well. Been in for a few lunches of late and was impressed with the grub and staff service as Cal was saying.
