Good to hear that St Johnstone are on the way up again; I hope that Caley Thistle can hold on to their own spot in the Premier League. Though both those teams in the same league could make for some awful busy trains on the Highland Main Line... meanwhile south of the Border, so much expectation on Shearer but the Magpies have it all to do.

Yes, I agree - don't think you really want your favourite train becoming a football special! Didn't you recently have an unfortunate encounter with an inebriated person on a train? Much as I'm gutted that it's St Johnstone and not us (at one point we were head of the table with fantastic results like a 6:1 gubbing of Livingston but then it all went the way of the pear), at least we managed to pull ourselves up to fifth place which is where we finished last year. Still, at least Perth is not too far away from IV - imagine what ungodly hour they'd have to set off at to be on the pitch at Palmerston for 3pm!

The inebriated person in that instance wasn't football related; I suspect he had just come off a shift on the rigs as I heard him saying he'd changed trains and had come from Dyce. As everyone will be wondering what happened, he fell asleep across two seats just over the aisle from me and his backside was pointing towards me and he let one rip. It stank and as this was one of the electric trains (going to Newcastle) there was no option of opening windows. In First Class too! Anyway, back to sports, Caley Thistle still hanging on in there...
