Just wondered if anyone has been watching "The Wire" on BBC 2 at the ridiculous time of 11:30pm??
Anyone who used to sit near me would remember I used to bore people to death by banging on about how brilliant this show was. I've already watched all 5 seasons but it really was so good that I'm watching it all over again.
In a nutshell the series is set in the city of Baltimore and concentrates on a homicide and narcotics investigation in to a local drug dealer and his crew. But that really is just a brief discription, it also sees the city throught the eyes of junkies, politicians, school children, police officers and journalists.
It's not really the kind of show that follows a strict formula like say CSI, and there isn't always lots of action and shoot outs. But if you stick with it I can guarantee you won't be dissapointed. - Easily the best show on TV and not "The Bill" like one of my former colleagues used to argue was much better!

I've never seen it - which is crazy, as I've only heard good things said about it. I might put series 1 & 2 box sets on my Amazon wish list though, and see if I get them for a birthday or Christmas etc. I seem to be too disorganised nowadays to watch scheduled programs!

Taped it last night and watched it today. I agree it has a very different flavour to it and so many more perspectives than you usually see in cop shows. I still enjoy my CSI and Law and Order though; I recently got into NCIS too which is such a great mix of action and hilarious dialogue. They really are like a family. Abby is my favourite but I love Ziva's interpretations of the American English language! ("I wouldn't want to be misunderstood"; "Does that happen often?"; "Once in a blue lagoon." Classic!)
