This may be controversial but does anyone else think the Beehive is a bit on the small side for our purposes for all these leaving dos, especially with the much more capacious Black Bull just next door? I found the Beehive rather claustrophobic; with the layout in there, as soon as there is a large group in, the people sitting nearest the windows are pretty well boxed in for the duration and there's no room for people to band into smaller groups to chat as the general volume increases with the numbers and alcohol consumption! It is a pleasant venue and well in keeping with the traditional feel of Grassmarket pubs in general; I mean no criticism of the place itself. I just wonder whether somewhere like the Black Bull or the Footlights would be more suitable for us.
Was it chosen for the buzz? ;D sorry couldn't resist that one!

Totally agree - and the lager's rubbish.  I'd imagine the last couple are going to be quite big do's, and would agree we need the extra space. |

Always felt that about the hive as well.
Mind a few year back there was a big do in there and by the end of the night most people were next door in the Black Bull.

Alas on 4.7.08 - I'll be in Silverstone cheering on Lewis for the British GP (well, over the entire weekend of course)..... - hope you make an effort and come into town for the one on the 31st of July though!
