I really like the sound of this movie, though as usual with films which appeal to me all the reviews I've seen seem to be really bad. It's starting to annoy me; is my taste that suspect? 
Or is it just not cool to actually be positive about a film any more?
Anyway, I'll reserve my judgement until I've seen it. I've never yet been put off seeing a film by a bad review and I usually do end up enjoying them!

there were scenes which were a blatant homage to some of the bits they couldn't show in the original release of The Exorcist and they were done in such a chilling way. I did find the main character a tad insipid but the mythology and scares made up for that. The ending, which of course I won't give away, could be interpreted as implying a sequel; whether or not that would work, I'm not sure. I feel it works best as a stand-alone film. Seeing it on the big screen made me wish that I had managed to catch 1408 when it was on at the cinema. Oh I would so love to have seen that on the larger scale!
